A Layer 2 is a network built on top of a main blockchain, usually Ethereum, to process transactions faster and cheaper.

Why it matters: L2s and the apps on them run many airdrop programs, and their low fees suit small budgets.

Example: Variational runs on Arbitrum; Konnex is on Base.
