Showed Up

Attendance-based reputation for local clubs: run clubs, study groups, and meetups.

Chidi has run with a 6am club for a year. Showed Up checks him in by NFC tag, and his 200 run streak gets him a free race entry from a sponsor.

Mission

Make showing up count, for the people who keep a club alive.

The need

Run clubs, study groups and meetups live on people showing up, but attendance sits in a captain's head or a WhatsApp thread. Regulars get no credit they can carry, sponsors cannot reward consistency without trusting a spreadsheet, and clubs lose the record when the organiser moves on.

What it will never do

  • Never write a member's location or phone number onchain
  • Never change a past record without the captain
  • Never promise a sponsor reward
  • Never show a member who opted out of the board
Owner playbook

Pick your voyage

Run clubs, study groups and meetups run on loyalty, but the record of who kept showing up lives in a group chat that scrolls away. Showed Up checks members in by QR or NFC tag and turns their attendance into a streak attestation they own, which sponsors can reward. Owning it means the club pages, the sponsor deals and the subscription revenue are yours, and your own club is the first proof it works.

Straight answers

Before you own it

I can't code. Can I set this up for my club?

Yes. The club page, QR or NFC check in, streak attestations and leaderboard are built. You set the chain, name and colors and deploy from your wallet with the guide. NFC tags cost a few dollars.

Will members want wallets?

Most just want to tap and go. Use the simplest login the app offers, check people in for them on the first day, and explain later that the streak is theirs to keep.

Can people check in without showing up?

Rotate the QR code each session or use an NFC tag at the venue, and let the organizer void suspicious check ins. It is good enough for a club, not a court.

Will sponsors really pay?

Local running shops, cafes and gyms often reward loyal community members. Start by asking for small rewards (free coffee, race entry) and grow from there.

What if my club is tiny?

A club of 15 regulars is a perfect start. Streaks matter more in small clubs where everyone notices.
